First Day of School and Garden Harvest

I can't believe I have a kindergartener. Lydia had a great first day of school. She really likes her teacher Miss Paul. I am excited for her, but sad for me. It's hard to let go.
It looks like she takes after Dan, he always closes his eyes in pictures.
Just some nice pictures that Dan took

This is our huge sunflower. We had 4, but 2 of them broke off before they bloomed. Lydia earned $3.00 helping me pick veggies from our garden
Now we just have to snap, clean, and can them.

I'm going to the zoo, zoo, zoo, How 'bout you you you

We took the girls to the Hogle Zoo this week. Believe it or not, it was the girls 2nd time to the zoo, and my first time to a zoo. We all had fun, although I must admit, looking at the animals made me sad. I know they are well taken care of, but I can't imagine having to live in a smallish enclosure when I should be living in the great plains of Africa (for example). We didn't tell Lydia where we were going, we just said we were going for a ride. When we got there and she finally figured out where we were, she was so excited.

All aboard the Choo Choo Train

Looking at the elephants, I know it is a funny shot, but I thought it was cute

Annabelle and Daddy checking out the elephants

Riding the Rhino

It's hard to tell in this picture, but the turtle is balanced, underwater, on one foot. It looked like he was doing yoga or Tai-Chi or something.

I think I enjoyed looking at all the cool plants more than the animals

This is an alligator from New Orleans that has some genetic mutation that makes it white. He looks mean, but he was actually just yawning. I am fairly sure he wouldn't hurt a fly. The whole time we watched him he had a fly crawling around his face and into his mouth and he barely moved and inch.

Checking out a snake
More alligators

I must admit, looking at the giraffes was pretty amazing. I think they have very pretty faces. We felt bad though, because they had flies crawling all over them.

I am not sure what that look on my face is. I think it is probably sheer joy because riding the carousel was the last thing on our list before going home.
Enjoying the carousel

Camping!

We went on our first family camping trip this weekend. We went with 3 other families to Currant Creek Resevoir. It was a lot of fun. Ready to go
At The Dairy Keen in Heber
Camping=Relaxing
Eliza love to blow kisses
"Row, Row, Row your boat"

The girls slept surprisingly well
Talk about a bad hair day
Lydia wasn't so sure about the canoe at first. When we first got in, she kept asking to go back home. Annabelle however, loved every minute of it. She helped me row, and kept singing "Row your boat." She didn't want to get out when we were all done.
Poor Joe tried to take his pitbull Lily out for a ride, but Lily decided to get out and flipped the canoe. Joe had his phone and camera in his pocket.
